Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion also called Eucharistic Ministers, will receive spiritual, theological and practical preparation to fulfill their role with knowledge and reverence. All ministers of Holy Communion should show the greatest reverence for the Most Blessed Sacrament by the manner in which they handle the Sacred Host, and also by their demeanor and attire. If you are interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister, please contact our Church office at 815-723-3291, or email us at sjvlockport.org.
Altar Servers assist the deacon and priest with the celebration of the Holy Mass. They are an integral part of the liturgy. A server must actively practice the Catholic faith and should have an ardent love for God and his Church.
We are currently in need of Altar Servers. If you are interested in learning more, please contact the Church office at the number and email above.
“Your commitment to the altar is not only a duty, but a great honor, a genuine holy service.”
.........Pope St. John Paul II, Address at the General Audience, August 1, 2001
Lectors proclaim Scripture Readings that precede the Gospel Reading in the Liturgy of the Word. As they perform their roles, the Word of God is declared before the faithful and the treasures of the Bible are opened to them. When the Sacred Scriptures are read in Church, God Himself speaks to His people and Christ, present in His Word, proclaims the Gospel. The Readings of God's Word must therefore be listened to by all with reverence as they make up a principal element of the Liturgy. If you are interested in becoming a Lector, please contact the Church office at the number and email above.
